Any ideas on cleaning moldy window air conditioners?

Since starting our air conditions this summer, I can't help but notice the very specific and ominous smell of mold blasting out from them! I've tried unplugging it and spraying bleach water, Windex, and even Febreez just to try and mask the smell; to no avail. A solution that doesn't involve removing the air conditioners from the windows would be best, as the previous home owners sort of permanently bolted them in and built redneck support devices that would take a day per unit to disassemble. I have allergies and a 9 mo DD, whom doesn't need to be breathing mold fumes: help!
